Skalmo Rapa 30-45L Backpack Ultra

We designed this pack with the long fast hiker in mind. This is not your sit every 2 kilometers fika (coffee?) break backpack. Of course that works great too, as the side pockets are big enough to carry any amount of fika you wish to have with you.. But point being, this pack is meant to be used hard. This is also why we’d rather take away things than add them. The more stuff hanging from a backpack, the more possibilities for the backpack to break. Minimalistic design meant to last a lifetime of hard hiking. 

If you want to go fast and hard, the Rapa is for you. Meant for minimal weight with maximum flexibility the Rapa comes with a large 30-45L roll-top pack. And also as about 10 liter of external stretch pockets. This pack has 3 large pockets on the outside – 2 1,5 liter side pockets that are big enough for any 1 liter bottle or more, or a tent. These pockets are also easily accessible while walking, by just reaching back. Unlike the Illforsen, these side pockets are completely seperated from the Large front pocket. Speaking of the large front pocket, did we mention this is large? We can’t think of a larger front pocket on any backpack as far as sheer amount of space is concerned. To top it all off the Rapa has a small bottom pocket that is perfect for rain gear or candy.. Whatever you prioritize on long, hard hikes. 

The Rapa 40L comes with a small removeable hip-belt strap, that can be attached to match your preferred torso length and fit. 

What sets our packs apart from other packs in the same genre? Our packs are sold as bigger than marketed – so if we say 40L that is a pack excluding the extra 5-10 liters on top and the 4-8 Liters in the outside pockets. Most packs are considerably smaller than marketed. Our packs are built to last! We don’t cut corners on materials or sewing techniques – We use buckles that aren’t meant for mini-fingers, or mesh that will fall apart after a season or two. We would rather have a little heavier pack that will last and can be used daily and even in ice cold temperatures, than making packs using mini-buckles and webbing and save a few grams. 

About Ultra EPL

Ecopak™ EPL Ultra is a new series of waterproof fabrics for backpacks made out of  woven UHMWPE and recycled polyester blend laminated to 0.5mil RUV recycled film. This is one of the stongest backpack laminates for its weight currently on the market. EPL200 is a good choice for ultralight packs. EPL 400 is more robust but still ultralight.
